Biography

PROFESSIONAL:

Justin began his acting career on December 17, 2002, in the role of Fox Crane on the daytime soap opera “Passions” which he held until February 10, 2006. During this time (2005), he filmed the movie “Race You to the Bottom” playing the role of Joe. In 2006, he shot a pilot for “Aquaman”, a spinoff from the TV show “Smallville”, but the pilot never aired. Ironically enough, Justin was then awarded the role of billionaire Oliver Queen (the Green Arrow) in the WB/CW Superman-inspired series “Smallville” beginning in 2006 for a 7 episode ARC. Oliver Queen became a regular cast member in 2008 and continued on until the show ended in 2011. During 2006, Justin also portrayed Tom in the controversial film “Red Canyon”, as well as Rhett Clark in “Austin Golden Hour”.

In 2007, Justin was seen in the TV film “Spellbound” and also made guest appearances on the TV shows “CSI:NY – Heart of Glass” and “Cold Case – Justice”. Justin also got involved with the growing trend of using the web as a brosdcasting medium by getting involved with the web series “Hope & Regret”. He worked on two other Web series a year later in 2008, NBC’s “Gemini Division” in which he played Nick Korda, and “Brawn & Glamour” in which he also starred opposite his real life wife, Lindsay. 2009 saw Justin in a variety of roles such as Todd in the Direct-to-video film “Spring Breakdown”, Ted Rawlings in “A Way with Murder” and Dan Lane in the TV film “Megafault”. In 2011, Justin jumped back on the small screen to guest star as Wesley Sneijder in the TV series “Chuck”. With 2012 barely underway, we have already seen him guest star in the ABC’s TV series “Castle” playing Reggie Star, and this spring we will see him take on the role of Jesse on the CW hit “Hart of Dixie” as a possible love interest for the show’s female lead, Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson). In 2012, Justin teamed up with Kent Moran to portray James Burchart in the boxing film “The Challenger”, which was released in March 2016.  Justin also rejoined The CW Network, signing on to their new series as Will Collins in the new medial series titled Emily Owens, MD. The series premieres on October 16th. Sadly this series ended it’s run after only 13 episodes.  After Leaving Emily Owens behind, Justin landed serveral guest appearances on ABC’s hit shows “Revenge” and “Mistresses” before coming back to daytime, taking over the role of Adam Newman on CBS’s “Young and the Restless”.

PERSONAL:

Justin Scott Hartley was born in Knoxville, IL on January 29, 1977 and grew up in Orland Park, IL. He has one older brother (Nathan) and 2 younger sisters (Megan and Gabriela). He enjoys sports and played baseball, basketball and soccer in high school. He continues to follow his favorite baseball teams, the Cubs and Dodgers and is known to root for the Bears. He attended Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois in Chicago where he majored in history and theater.
